The Microscope Group of Cross Hills Naturalists’ Society has been meeting once a month since September 1994 on the 2nd Thursday of each month @ 18.45
Currently, members take material to the indoor meetings to study using binocular microscopes and if appropriate, photographs are taken, using a dedicated microscope camera, so that images can be viewed by all members on a laptop computer. Subjects covered at the meetings have been:- Pollen, Mosses, Fungi, Owl Pellets, Pond life, Insects, Plant Sections, Minerals and Marine debris as well as staining techniques.
Outdoor meetings have been held at Filey, Malham, Denso Marsden and Bolton Abbey when material has been collected and studied later.
Some members of the group attend an annual Microscopical Meeting at Malham and also belong to the Postal Microscopical Society.
